CORKED! Unfortunately every once in a while you'll pop a cork and realize that something is wrong. In this case, something was very wrong...
Los Angeles was once the biggest wine producing region in the state of California. In fact, it was the first place in California to grow European grape varietals when Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc were brought in from Bordeaux in the 1830's. Unfortunately Prohibition all but killed the LA wine industry and it would never fully recover. While still far from its former glory wine production in Los Angeles remains alive today as a handful of dedicated producers continue farming unique vineyards located on the far fringes of urban sprawl. From the coastal canyons of Malibu to the high desert of the Antelope Valley there are vineyards dotting the landscape that survive thanks to the hands of the producers passionate enough to make something special from them. While LA will never "Be the next Napa," there are some unique and supremely interesting wines being created in the City of Angels.
