2018 Estate Pinot Noir - Talley Vineyards

Delicate dark cherry, green tea leaf, sweet pomegranate. Raspberry reduction, ground cardamom, Santa Rosa plum. Beautifully lithe and lifted waves of strawberry, cranberry, and blood orange highlight an elegant and gorgeously expressive display that is playfully dusted with an eclectic medley of spices including cinnamon, coriander, basil, and sage. Notes of blooming jasmine and fragrant lavender enhance aromatics via pronounced floral character that rises above pleasant organic tones of pine cone, tilled soil, and nori. A gentle lightly saline waft of seabreeze softly reveals coastal origins while hints of stony minerality provide further reflections of terroir. Tremendously bright, high-toned, and youthful on both the nose and the palate with wonderfully weightless and ethereal qualities throughout; exhibiting a clean, classic, and restrained presentation that is delightfully authentic and enchanting. Medium bodied with mellow tannin backed by elevated acidity. This 2018 Estate Pinot Noir by Talley Vineyards is a pure and elegant red from the Arroyo Grande Valley.

Located in southern San Luis Obispo County within the newly approved San Luis Obispo Coast appellation, the Arroyo Grande Valley is a picturesque cool climate winegrowing zone that has earned a reputation as one of California's most exciting terroirs for Pinot Noir. This bottling, crafted by regional icon Talley Vineyards using Pinot Noir sourced from their estate vineyards in the Arroyo Grande Valley, is an incredibly complex and compelling example of the balance and beauty that wine from this region can possess. This gently yet expressively radiates a range of juicy red berry fruits balanced against fresh forest tones, lifted spices, pristine florals, and textbook coastal earthiness. This is drinking fantastically today right out of the bottle with no need for a decant, yet it also has the potential to develop and improve in the cellar for at least 5-10 years. Delicious.
