2010 Séduction Brut - Sparkling Pointe

Sparkling Pointe 2010 Brut.jpg

Shaved lemon peel, flaky croissant, sliced white peach. Asian pear, apple blossom, sweet Rainier cherry. Raw dough and baked almond, white flowers and bailed hay. Golden apple, nectarine, and dried citrus highlight an expressive and evocative bouquet interwoven with impressions of cashew and fresh pastries. On the palate pure fruited intensity continues bolstered by remarkably persistent mousse and bright flinty minerality. Impressively substantial in weight yet still extraordinarily focused and energetic, possessing a distinctly vinous quality complemented by tight and beautifully textured bubbles. Dry - but not piercingly so; relatively full and rich in body with pronounced and lively acidity. Fresh, seductive, and enticing. This 2010 Séduction Brut by Sparkling Pointe is an incredibly executed and thrillingly serious bubbly from the North Fork of Long Island.

Although Champagne has long been the undisputed king of sparkling wine production there are many regions all over the world beginning to put out delicious and highly credible bubbly on par with some of France's best. This bottling, crafted by Sparkling Pointe using a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir grown on the North Fork of New York's Long Island, is an exceptionally crafted and fantastically executed American sparkling wine. Despite being produced in Methode Champenoise and spending 8 years en tirage it is by no means a Champagne lookalike, rather it expresses a sense of purity and brilliance of fruit that places it squarely in the new world. There is a wonderful autolytic character here that expresses itself loudly while still allowing for outstandingly crisp freshness, and its balance and pedigree shine throughout. An extremely special and outstanding wine put together here by Sparkling Pointe.
