2016 Roberts Road Vineyard Pinot Noir - Sosie Wines
Plush Bing cherry, pine tree, ripe strawberry. Candied orange, rose petal, rhubarb pie filling. Forest floor and oyster mushroom, cardamom and crushed clove. High toned and expansive fruit explodes with expressive complexity, swiftly bringing cranberry cocktail, pomegranate, and raspberry compote together with gorgeous undergrowth and earth. Dense florals emerge spewing lavender concentrate that muddles wonderfully with lifted evergreen and Earl Grey. Basaltic rock and iron expose deeper glimmers of terroir not masked in the slightest by nutmeg and well integrated new oak. Brawny and structured yet still quite ethereal and juicy; sitting squarely medium plus in body, tannin, and acidity. This 2016 Roberts Road Vineyard Pinot Noir by Sosie Wines is a wonderfully balanced and thoroughly impressive red from the Sonoma Coast.
Owned and farmed by the famed Sangiacomo family, The Roberts Road Vineyard is a unique site located in the northeastern corner of the Petaluma gap. The property was purchased and planted in 1999 and quickly garnered a reputation as one of the premier cool climate vineyards in the area. This bottling, crafted by Sosie Wines using Pinot Noir sourced from the Roberts Road Vineyard, is an exemplary example of this remarkable site. It has a beautifully deep yet lifted fruit profile and loads of interesting earthy nuances that combine to form a nice melding of Californian and Burgundian styles. This is an extremely contemplative and interesting wine that also gives tremendous hedonistic pleasure. Another fantastic bottling from Sosie.
