Crushed blackberry, thorny brush, raspberry. Wild blueberry, dried basil, black currant. Purple wildflowers and smokey rotundone dance around black cherry and a strawberry glaze. Dry kindling and soy sauce umami on hot rocks meet a delicious cornucopia of berry fruit. This 2016 Seghesio Sonoma County Zinfandel is a racy, spicy, balanced, delicious Zin.

Seghesio Family Vineyards was established in 1895 with the planting of their home vineyard in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. They have been continuously growing wine grapes for over 120 years and are one of a select few American wineries to actually survive prohibition. Their first vineyard was planted to Zinfandel and true to form Zin continues to be their specialty to this day. This entry level bottling is composed of a blend of fruit from all over Sonoma County and posseses complex notes of fruit, earth, and wood. While primarily Zinfandel, this wine also contains a small percentage of Petit Sirah to add structure. If ever there was a wine perfectly designed for a summer barbeque this might be it. Hit the grill with some red meat and enjoy the sunset while sipping this beautiful Zinfandel.
