2015 Block 6 Pinot Noir - Sanford Winery
Juicy rainier cherry, pomegranate, earthy baking spice. A brilliant, fresh undercurrent of salinity and minerality - almost like standing with your toes at the edge of the waves and taking a big breath of undefiled ocean air. Bright acidity and some tannin to match, suggesting that this wine is no where near its peak. Our only regret is not waiting a few more years to open this 2015 Sanford Block 6 Pinot Noir. We'll be sitting on our other bottles for quite some time to see how they develop.
Sourced solely from Block 6 of the famous Sanford & Benedict vineyard in Santa Rita Hills, this wine expresses what makes this region so special for Pinot Noir. Block 6 is a steep, north facing slope planted entirely to Dijon Clone 667. The combination of clonal selection and the unique microclimate of the block create a wine with elegance, structure, and complexity that will improve in the cellar and drink well for a decade or more.
