2013 Turner Vineyard Syrah - SAMsARA Wine co.

Tense blackberry, crushed black pepper, garrigue. Dark plum skin, bacon fat, charred red meat. Herbacious and savory with a beautiful bouquet of grilling spices, game, and just a touch of dark fruit. One of the most distinctively Northern Rhone styled California Syrahs I've ever had the pleasure to experience. This 2013 Turner Vineyard Syrah by SAMsARA Wine Company is beautifully focused and captivating.

Stem inclusion, native yeast fermentation, and cool climates are not typically synonymous with California Syrah. That's what makes this beautiful bottling so different. Coming from the cool Santa Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara County, this Syrah was grown alongside Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Due to the cool & sunny growing season and long hang time on the vine this fruit was able to develop tremendous depth and complexity while barely achieving phenolic ripeness. The resulting wine - made with a minimal intervention approach - is spicy, savory, meaty, and WAY interesting. SAMsARA Wine Co. is doing some really great things and we highly recommend paying a visit to their beautiful tasting room next time you are passing through Los Olivos.
