2013 D'Ambrosio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon - Robert John Vineyards

Silky crème de cassis, sweet violet, whipped blackberry. Black forest cherry, lit tobacco, dark plum. Rich mint and menthol, creamy nutella and chocolate cake. Sultry and sensual black currant and blueberry lead a procession of soft and curvy fruit through a ringer of decadent confections. Vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon douse baking spices onto caramel and coffee grounds as graham cracker and camp fire contribute nostalgic depth. Mocha latte, cigar box, new leather sing further of shiny oak as graphite and tufa fight to share their complicating expressions. Full bodied with powerful yet ripe tannin and medium plus acidity - like falling into a king sized bed draped in cool purple satin sheets. This 2013 D'Ambrosio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon by Robert John Vineyards is an impressively delicious and spectacularly seductive Napa Valley Cab.

While there are many wonderful large producers making outstanding Cabernet in Napa Valley it is the small producers who usually deliver the most excitement per dollar. This bottling, crafted by Robert John Vineyards using 100% Cab Sauv sourced from the D'Ambrosio Vineyard in Coombsville, is a tremendously compelling boutique single vineyard wine. It is quite luscious and rich in Modern Napa style yet it possesses fantastic structure and balance for its size. At six years of age this wine is still quite young and primary with great promise for continued development and improvement in bottle. This is simply an excellent premium Napa Cab from an impressive small production winery.
