Brut - Piper-Heidsieck
Sliced golden apple, mushy juicy bartlett pear, jasmine flowers in full bloom. Ripe apricot, grated lemon peel, pulverized chalk. Slightly oxidative and autolytic. Open and inviting while maintaining some of that laser-like Champagne focus. This Piper-Heidsieck NV Brut Champagne is a delightfully fun and playful wine, but maintains just the right amount of seriousness. Think of a tuxedo t-shirt - "I want to be formal, but I'm here to party too"!
Piper-Heidsieck was originally founded as "Heidsieck & Cie" by Florens-Louis Heidsieck in 1785, who sought to create "a wine that smiles". From the beginning the goal was to create a fun, fruity wine that would give great pleasure without being too austere as so many Champagnes can sometimes be. To achieve this the wines are typically made using primarily Pinot Noir, followed by a good portion of Pinot Meunier, and only a small percentage of Chardonnay. The style creates a wonderful balance that will please both the discerning wine connoisseur and the complete novice. This should absolutely be everyone's go-to party Champagne!
