2013 Cabernet Sauvignon - Pegasus Estate Winery
Crushed blackberry, fresh lavender, blueberry compote. Currant, cigar smoke, peppermint bark. Cherry blossom and eucalyptus, cinnamon and baking spice. Clean, fresh, & focused with bright acidity and satin tannin. Like a piping hot black cherry pie cooling on a windowsill looking out over fields of blooming spring flowers. This 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon by Pegasus Estate Winery is mighty, majestic, and ready to take flight.
Pegasus Estate Winery sits in a beautiful and unique microclimate of the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County California. The estate vineyard lies on a sun drenched south-facing hillside and is surrounded by rose bushes, fruit trees, honeysuckle, and lavender. Warm sunny days and cool foggy nights allow for gradual ripening as sandy loam soils put just the right amount of strain on the vines. Somehow legendary Santa Barbara winemaker Ken Brown was contracted to perform the winemaking duties for Pegasus. Ken's experience in the region and sheer talent has shaped this gorgeous fruit into an even more spectacular wine. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon this wine shows extraordinary balance & lift while being surprisingly floral & expressive. It has the power and commanding tone of Cab yet possesses the jubilant eccentricity of coastal Pinot. This stuff must be tasted to be understood and no comparison to Napa, Bordeaux, or anywhere else would do it any justice. Wow!
