NV Classic Cuvee - Nyetimber
Nectarine pit, yellow straw, lemon peel. Cantaloupe rind, fresh eucalyptus, underripe cherry. Gooey biscuit and crunchy golden apple meet yellow wild flowers in tall grass and sandy chalk soils. This NV Nyetimber Classic Cuvee is a beautiful method Champenious bubbly proudly grown and produced in Great Britain.
England posses a stretch of earth & soil nearly identical to that of Champagne & Chablis. Unfortunately for most of recorded history it was just too cold there to viably grow wine grapes. Thanks to global warming and modern techniques that has recently all changed. This wine, produced by Nyetimber Vineyards from their estate vineyards in West Sussex and Hampshire England, could very well be mistaken for Champagne if tasted blind. Nyetimber was the very first English sparkling wine producer to make wine from all 3 of the varietals present in Champagne, and they have been doing it since 1988. This wine has beautiful acidity and a wonderful undercurrent of yeasty brioche, and even reflects that coveted chalky quality of Grand Cru Champagne. While English sparkling wine is still largely in its infancy, there will be some absolutely stellar stuff coming from here in the very near future.
