2015 Hospice De Belleville Morgon - Joseph Drouhin

Joseph Druhin Morgon.jpg

Dried strawberry, bing cherry, and raspberry zest. A lovely earthy note of decomposing granite and schist. Silky tannin and a long, clean finish. Is this Pinot? No, its something else. It's Morgon and it's delicious. We're digging this 2015 Hospice De Belleville Morgon by Joseph Drouhin.

Harvested from the 12 acre Chateau Gaillard plot in Morgon and made from 100% gamay. A portion of the harvest was de-stemmed for a ‘Burgundy style’ vinification with punch downs and pump overs, while the remainder was vinified as whole cluster with carbonic maceration in typical Beaujolais style. The resulting wine, produced by the large and well known Joseph Drouhin from Burgundy, is something truly special.
