2019 Estate Pinot Rosé - Montinore Estate
White strawberry, cold stones, underripe white peach. Grapefruit zest, dewy moss, watermelon rind. A crisp and nervy blast of almost-ripe raspberry, Rainier cherry, and crunchy Anjou pear highlights a lean yet impressively tense fruit core energetically complicated by pine needle, rose water, and edgy minerality. Perfumed cherry blossom and white flowers provide wafts of delicate yet expansive aromatics further enhanced by a garnish of mint leaf and lavender. A pinch of white pepper and pickled ginger impart a very mild whiff of spice offset by earthy tones of crushed rock, fine-grained soil, and glacial minerals. Bone dry, racy, and tart on the palate with outstanding focus and precision; exhibiting chiseled linearity and palpable crunch while providing intensely bright high-energy refreshment. Medium bodied and driven by near-piercingly high acidity. This 2019 Estate Pinot Rosé by Montinore Estate is a taut, tightly-wound, and delicious Rosé from the Willamette Valley.
While Oregon's Willamette Valley is well known for producing high quality red wine using the elegant Pinot Noir grape, this region is also home to a wide range of incredible rosés made using this same legendary dark-skinned variety. This bottling, crafted by Montinore Estate using Pinot Noir sourced from their biodynamic Willamette Valley estate vineyard, showcases just how serious and seductive well made Oregon rosé can be. This wine practically pulses in the glass with intense energy and verve thanks to a streak of ripping acidity followed by a remarkably clean mineral backbone. It does still possess a solid helping of expressive fruit and floral notes, however these have no problem giving way to wonderfully bright and pure acid-driven delight. Extremely impressive and downright tasty.
