2017 Marshall Davis Vineyard Pinot Noir - Marshall Davis Wine

Bright Sweetheart cherry, fresh violets, black raspberry purée. Juicy strawberry, white mushroom, young pomegranate. Fresh-squeezed cranberry juice, blueberry, and orange peel highlight a delightfully cheerful and crunchy attack delicately enhanced by hints of lilac, allspice, and pine tree. A subtle waft of lavender and lightly aromatic floral tones emerges to augment the spirited and juicy bouquet while fallen leaves, forest floor, and aerated soil reveal subtle organic complexity. Higher-toned spice notes of cardamom, nutmeg, sage, and clove provide a touch of exotic flair as impressions of iron and earth expose classic reflections of terroir. Pure, lively, and charmingly animated on the palate; presenting itself as zippy, tart, and upbeat while remaining terrifically elegant and restrained. Medium bodied with beautifully elevated acidity softening out its moderate tannin. This 2017 Marshall Davis Vineyard Pinot Noir by Marshall Davis Wine is a tremendously fresh, expressive, and delicious red from Yamhill-Carlton.

Located in the northern Willamette Valley due east of the Chehalem Mountains and Dundee Hills, Yamhill-Carlton is a unique winegrowing appellation quickly becoming known for producing some of Oregon's most interesting and exciting Pinot. This bottling, crafted by Marshall Davis Wine using Pinot Noir sourced from their estate vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton, showcases the vitality, complexity, and expressiveness possible in this region's very best wines. While it is still extremely fruit-driven, youthful, and primary at its current stage this wine expresses a lifted spice profile along with a charming underbelly of soil tones. Its tremendous freshness certainly allows it to be enjoyed young, but this would also be an excellent candidate for a few years of cellar age. Very fun and well made
