2018 Vincent Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc - Luna Hart Wines

Underripe peach, raw sugarcane, green apple flesh. Honeydew melon, lush flowers, Anjou pear. Meyer lemon, ripe passion fruit, and papaya highlight a tremendously tangy and juicy fruit core that energetically volleys between jolts of electric citrus and rich tropical delight. Hints of lime blossom and honeysuckle reveal mildly lifted floral overtones that playfully intertwine with mint leaf and an ever-so-subtle pyrazinic edge. Notes of sandy earth and ocean air gracefully emerge to fend off cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of gingery spice with delicate reflections of terroir. Amply ripe and fruit-focused while remaining surprisingly fresh and lively; imparting a lovely honeyed sensation on the tongue before shifting towards a finish of pretty stoney minerality. Medium plus in body and soft on the palate while supported by elevated acidity. This 2018 Vincent Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc by Luna Hart Wines is well balanced and multidimensional white from the Los Olivos District of Santa Barbara County.

Sauvignon Blanc can often be seen as a wine of extremes; many popular cool climate expressions are known for coming across as extremely tart, linear, and mineral while others from warmer regions can be ripe, round, and decadent. This bottling, crafted by Luna Hart Wines using Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the Vincent Vineyard in central Santa Barbara County, wonderfully executes an underappreciated intermediate style of this well-loved grape. Although it contains more than a touch of refreshing zip and zing the decision to utilize neutral oak aging here has left this wine with a surprisingly soft and supple mouthfeel. Its fruit profile is also quite unique and seems to bounce from ripe and tropical to citrusy and crisp. This is a delicious micro-production white by an impressive young female producer.
