2015 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir - Liquid Farm
Pomegranate seeds, blooming lavender, damp mossy forest floor. Bing cherry, olive tapenade, ground cardamom. Driven by cranberry and stems with layer after layer of heady complexion. Strikingly Burgundian with the subtlest hints of California flair. This 2015 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir by Liquid Farm is an beautiful age-worthy piece of art.
Liquid Farm came into being with the intention of creating earthy, cool climate, lower alcohol, old-world style wines in Santa Barbara County. Their approach to winemaking is classic in the sense that they avoid overripeness, retain acidity, and allow natural fermentation to occur without additions or interventions. Their lineup is unbelievably delicious and competes with the best Chardonnay and Pinot in California and beyond. This wine, sourced from the Solomon Hills and Bien Nacido Vineyards in Santa Maria, is structured, complex, and quite beautiful. Brian, who guided us through our tasting, was one of the most knowledgeable people we've had the pleasure of tasting with in a long time. Track down these wines if you can find them!!!
