L'enfant Du Pape - Le Cuvier Winery

Cranberry juice cocktail, dried lavender, allspice. Smushed raspberries, blueberry pie, intense limestone minerality. Tangy, bright, and way more playful than we would expect a wine at 15.7% alcohol to feel. This dry farmed blend of 35% Grenache, 33% Syrah, 24% Mourvedre, plus some Petite Sirah and Viognier has us stoked. The 2014 L'Enfant Du Pape by Le Cuvier Winery is what Paso Robles terroir is all about.

Le Cuvier Winery was founded in 1983 by Paso Robles Pioneer John Munch with a goal of making wines with absolutely minimal intervention. Using dry farmed vines, native yeast fermentation, and cellars that are not artificially humidified, Le Cuvier lets nature do the talking. The resulting wines are absolutely unique and tremendously interesting. Their tasting room also features a complementary chef-selected food pairing with each wine which greatly enhances the tasting room experience. These guys are getting so popular that they actually regularly run out of wine to pour in their tasting room, so try to call ahead before visiting to make sure you get the full experience. We cannot recommend Le Cuvier any more highly!
