Blackberry concentrate, crushed rosemary, warm kirsch. Fig puree, ground cinnamon, soft black licorice. Green peppercorn and young bramble, baking chocolate and espresso. Extraordinarily dense, dark, and tense at its core; packed with baked boysenberry, blueberry, and plum that while quite ripe and concentrated remain tremendously smooth and polished. Rose petal and dried violet contribute subtly beautiful florals while mature oak tree, anise, and sage add a natural herbal edge. Clove, nutmeg, and cardamom emerge in a medley of pretty baking spices evidencing the influence of new barrel and toast, yet not overwhelming the delicate touch of iron and limestone minerality. Full bodied and heavily structured; packed with pronounced tannin and elevated acidity that's youthful exuberance has only been partially tamed in the cellar. This bottling, crafted by Law Estate Wines using a blend of Tempranillo/Carignan/Mourvedre/Grenache sourced from their home vineyard in West Paso Robles, fully celebrates and embraces the uniqueness of Paso Robles terroir. This wine pulls together elements of some of the great wines of Spain and Southern France and presents them cohesively with a distinct Paso twist. It is certainly fruit forward, muscular, and quite robust in character yet balance remains its primary focus. Power - while dominant - does not mask finesse, and certainly further layered complexity will continue to develop with more bottle age.
