2013 KW Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir - Kori Wines
Dark cherry, vanilla cola, boysenberry compote. Barely ripe blueberry, fresh violet, raspberry pie filling. Crushed clove and nutmeg, lacquered wood and mild undergrowth. Silky dark fruit and a hint of sweetened cranberry are lightly drizzled in creamy milk chocolate, with just a waft of woody Pinot funk proclaiming typicity. Manicured rich earth sits deep below glossy fruity oak-laden lushness. This 2013 KW Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir by Kori Wines is juicy, plush, and shiny.
The Santa Lucia Highlands in California's central coast produces some biggest most beautiful fruit-forward Pinot Noir in the world. The 2013 vintage was a warm one in California and further contributed to some exceptionally powerful wines. This bottling, by boutique SLH producer Kori Wines, clearly exhibits the sunny warmth of the vintage. Soft primarily dark fruit sits roundly on the palate accented by a generous helping of new oak. Low in tannin with just enough acid to avoid inclinations of flab. This stuff is noticeably more ripe than their 2014 bottling with a greater focus on fruit and wood than savory earth. Lovers of big California style Pinot will definitely dig this wine.
