2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon - Hestan Vineyards

Cremé de cassis, dark chocolate, black cherry purée. Ripe blackberry, crushed gravel, cool blueberry glaze. Delicate mint and eucalyptus, new leather and slow roasted coffee. Gorgeously deep and complex fruit ranging from black currant to boysenberry swirls in a cyclone of texture and poise. Fresh violet and hydrangeas add a floral touch to tobacco leaf and cedar, bolstered by pretty oak radiating out vanilla bean, crushed nutmeg, cinnamon stick, and anise. Profoundly concentrated and flawlessly balanced, gushing soft mouth-coating tannin in subtle unctuousness. Tightly delineated showcasing both soil and sex-appeal as pencil shavings combat rich mocha with style and finesse. This 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon by Hestan Vineyards is precisely crafted and immaculately executed Napa Cab.

Located on the far eastern edge of California's famed Napa Valley, the Hestan Vineyards property was purchased in 1996 to be developed into a world class vineyard site for Bordeaux varieties. With the help of an all-star team led by legendary winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, Hestan Vineyards has quickly risen to the top of the pyramid of cult Napa producers. This bottling, crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the finest blocks of the Hestan Estate Vineyard, is a captivating and riveting triumph. Stylistically this wine leans towards opulence but possesses a strong backbone of structure and restraint, allowing for immediate enjoyment while clearly containing the guts for decades of cellaring. This is perfectly ripe yet not a hair over the top and is brimming with pure and beautiful Cabernet typicity. Although quite full in body with expansive satin tannin the presence of wonderful acidity keeps the ship steering straight, culminating in magnificent and symbiotic vinous harmony. Utterly impressive in every way; it is hard to find a single flaw here. Spectacular.
