Wild raspberry, spring flowers, fuzzy peach. Tart watermelon, acacia leaf, papaya slices. Coconut water and fine sand, Herbs de Provence and juniper. Strawberries & cream meets guava and nectarine in a mineral and slightly herbaceous attack. Medium bodied, clean, and complex with refreshing acidity. A touch of VA shows upon opening but blows off with some air. This 2017 Wallula Vineyard Rosé of Cinsault by Den Hoed Wine Estate is a gorgeous gastronomic rosé from Washington State.

There is nothing wrong with sipping rosé by the pool, but well made pink wine deserves a place at the dinner table. The juicy fruit and fresh minerality of these wines has the potential to pair perfectly with starters, salads, and cheeses in situations where other wines might fall flat. This bottling, crafted by Den Hoed Wine Estates using 100% Cinsault from the Wallula Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills, is an ideal rosé for food. It is energetic and complex with bright fruit pleasantly complemented by just a dash of minty greenness and quartz minerality. More contemplative than casual, this wine opens up to reveal additional layers as it breathes. As food trends continue to shift towards raw, healthy, and fresh watch for rosé to continue to gain culinary relevance.
