2005 SAINT-eSTEPHE - Petit Bocq

Petit-Bocq.jpg

Damson plum, black currant, bruised dark cherry. Mushroomy Bordeaux funk and an unmistakable note of wet gravel. Supple in texture with well integrated tannin and balanced acidity. The 2005 Petit Bocq is fully mature and drinking in a wonderful place right now after needing only a short decant!

Despite being located on the left bank of the Gironde in Saint-Estephe, the Petit Bocq estate is planted primarilly to Merlot - which thrives in its cooler clay soils. Cabernet Sauvignon is also present in the blend to add structure. 2005 was a very successful vintage across all of Bordeaux, and it is a treat to find great wines from lesser known Chateau such as this from that great vintage.
