2014 Musar Jeune Rosé - Chateau Musar
Blood orange, rose petal, kalamata olive. Watermelon, burnt cherry, tomato skin. Strawberry, white pepper, and some volatile acidity. This complex, savory, unconventional rosé is practically the polar opposite of those bright shiny pink fruit bombs that line most supermarket shelves. This 2014 Musar Jeune Rosé by Chateau Musar is weird, wacky, and wonderful.
Chateau Musar is well known in the wine world for being different. Located in the war-torn Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, Musar's style is completely their own. Their wines are produced completely organically and naturally using both noble and local grape varieties. The wines are often very savory and it is not uncommon for them to exhibit VA and Brettanomyces. This Rosé, made from 100% Cinsault, honestly drinks more like an older Italian red. If you're into the unconventional and looking to try something completely unique you must give the wines of Chateau Musar a try.
