NV “Terroirs” Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs - Champagne Agrapart & Fils
Lemon peel, thick chalk, golden apple slice. Bosc pear, fresh croissant, yellow nectarine. French baguette and aged cheese rind, sunflower field and straw pile. Extraordinarily precise and intensely focused fruit zooms in on the palate - bursting with citrus zest and apricot that is both fierce and massively expressive. Pronounced autolytic notes gently grasp control showcasing kaleidoscopic brioche, sourdough, and yeast. Yogurt and curdled cream add further nuance and complexity before violently chalky minerality overtakes the field in a long and parchingly dry finish. Medium minus in body with a mouth filing yet delicate mousse and ferocious acidity; gorgeously balanced and masterfully developed. This NV "Terroirs" Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs by Champagne Agrapart & Fils is an outstanding grower/producer bubbly from the Cote de Blancs.
Based out of the village of Avize just south of Epernay, Champagne Agrapart & Fils has emerged as one of the premier grower/producers of Champagne's Cote de Blancs. This bottling, crafted using 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay sourced from vineyards in a few nearby Grand Cru villages in the Cote de Blancs, is an absolutely remarkable wine with tremendous energy and power. Interestingly the base wine for this cuvee was aged in oak and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation, which has added tremendous breadth and complexity to its profile. It was aged an additional 4 years en tirage and exhibits unbelievable tertiary nuance and depth. This is a spectacular bottle of Champagne that blows most similarly priced wines out of the water. Exceptional.
