2020 “Stone Blossom” Sauvignon Blanc - Cadre Wines
Squeezed lime, sea breeze, grapefruit pith. Tart green apple, fresh asparagus, gooey passion fruit. Energetic beams of lemon juice, gooseberry, and Anjou pear lead a bright and impressively edgy attack coursing with oodles of youthful vigor and vibrancy. Notes of gravel, crushed rock, and saline minerality assertively provide intense earthy undercurrents that integrate flawlessly with hints of dewy grass, mint leaf, and green bean. Suggestions of citrus blossom, jasmine, and elderflower gently emerge within a range of delicate floral tones that add dimension to the crisp and deliciously linear display. Impressively pure, nervy, and invigorating on the palate with excellent precision and punch; exhibiting a thoroughly refreshing, clean, and lively presentation that marries deliciously tart fruit with mesmerizing marine-influenced minerality. Medium bodied and booming with powerful acidity. This 2020 "Stone Blossom" Sauvignon Blanc by Cadre Wines is a pretty and palate-tingling white from the Edna Valley.
Although Chardonnay is by far the most widely planted white wine grape in the region, San Luis Obispo's Edna Valley is ideally suited to successfully grow a wide range of international white wine varieties. This bottling, crafted by Cadre Wines using Sauvignon Blanc sourced from within the Edna Valley, is an outstanding example of this grape's immense potential in this coastal cool climate region. This wine delicately booms with puckeringly tart yet delicious citrus and orchard fruits alongside mild green grassy tones and powerful saline minerality. It is drinking absolutely perfectly today and is likely best enjoyed at its freshest, yet will certainly hold well for 3-5 years. Outstanding.
