2020 "Métier" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - Delille Cellars

A notably rich and expressive procession of ripe black currant, dark plum, sweet blackberry, and dusty blueberry parades with deep and nicely layered concentration as notes of bramble, anise, eucalyptus, and tobacco contribute an intriguing range of pleasant herbal underpinnings. Impressions of root beer, baking chocolate, and espresso generously expose additional dimensions of well-integrated opulence while floral tones of rose petals and potpourri gently lift aromatics. Hints of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg provide a dusting of understated baking spices that gracefully intertwine with rugged suggestions of iron and smoke. Impressively ripe, robust, and powerful on the palate while maintaining excellent freshness and approachability throughout; exhibiting an easy-drinking and well-balanced presentation that combines nice liveliness and energy with excellent depth and complexity. Medium-plus bodied with moderate tannin backed by mild acidity. This 2020 "Métier" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon by Delille Cellars is a well made and interesting red from Washington State.

Located in and around the hilly grasslands of central Washington that stretch north from the mighty Columbia River Gorge, the Columbia Valley is the Pacific Northwest's most wide-reaching and prolific warm-climate winegrowing region renowned for its ability to produce powerful and highly complex red wine. This bottling, crafted by Delille Cellars using Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from within the Columbia Valley, is an excellent example of the combination of concentration and balance that make the wines from this region so unique. This generously spills plenty of ripe black, purple, and blue fruits enhanced by brambly herbal notes, pleasant floral tones, clean baking spices, and a bit of chocolaty opulence. It is crafted in an accessible "drink now" style and is ready to pop and pour immediately, although it should easily hold well for another 2-3 years or more. Very nice.
