2017 Claudia’s Choice Estate Pinot Noir - Broadley Vineyards
Wild black raspberry, fallen leaves, blood orange. Plump Bing cherry, Chinese five spice, blueberry puree. A fragrant outpouring of crunchy boysenberry, baked strawberry, and pomegranate erupts with marvelously high toned intensity while dried pine needle, coriander, and rose hips further complicate via flutters of exotic perfume. Notes of forest floor, compost, and loamy earth emerge to reveal complex wafts of organic decay that collide with a diverse and eclectic spice rack of cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, and cardamom. An interesting umami-laden edge of soy sauce and sauteed mushroom advances the gorgeously ethereal funk as impressions of iron, leather, and red pepper flakes impart spiced and savory underpinnings. Showing compelling developmental charm while remaining quite fresh and youthful on the palate; exceptionally balanced with a ripe yet restrained fruit core enhanced by layers of contemplative nuance. Medium in body with moderate tannin backed by bright acidity. This 2017 Claudia's Choice Estate Pinot Noir by Broadley Vineyards is a wonderfully aromatic, expressive, and thought-provoking red from the Willamette Valley.
