2015 La Colina Vineyard Pinot Noir - Beacon Hill Winery & Vineyard

Juicy black raspberry, dried leaves, dark cherry. Pomegranate seeds, whole peppercorn, cranberry juice. Crushed cardamom and anise, undergrowth and pine needle. Boysenberry and Santa Rosa plum shine brightly atop white mushroom and fresh rosemary. Forward, luscious, shiny, and brimming with exotic spice and volcanic earth. This 2015 La Colina Vineyard Pinot Noir by Beacon Hill Winery & Vineyard is big beautiful Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley.

Oregon's Willamette Valley is known for producing some of the world's most Burgundian wine outside of Burgundy itself. This bottling, crafted using fruit from Oregon's warm and dry 2015 vintage, is a great example of the differences between the two regions. While chock-full of spiced notes and secondary charm this wine is decidedly new world and accessible. Some new oak states its presence clearly but will surely integrate with more bottle age. Medium plus in body with medium tannin and acidity, this wine maintains its Pinot Noir typicity in an amplified tone. Still quite young and full of life, this stuff is balanced and bright. Don't expect Côte de Nuits here, but this is absolutely great wine with an emphasis on its new world charm.
