2017 Vermentino - Awen Winecraft

Lime zest, almond skin, under ripe apple. Pink grapefruit, fresh cilantro, Concorde pear. White peach and honeydew melon, orchard blossom and honeysuckle. Crisp clean citrus & stone fruit provide energetic tartness as wet stone minerality courses throughout. A dash of slightly bitter herbs speckled onto cantaloupe & orange slices served on a stainless steel tray. This 2017 Vermentino by Awen Winecraft is unsuspectingly thought provoking in all the right ways.

Vermentino is a warm climate white wine grape grown primarily on Italian island of Sardinia. It also has a presence in Southern France but is relatively rare in most new world wine growing regions. This particular Vermentino, produced by Awen Winecraft, hails from the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. It bares a distinct resemblance to its Italian counterparts but is perhaps a touch fuller. It is packed full of both snappy aromatic fruit & refreshing minerality which are complemented by light herbal tones. This wine checks boxes for being both delicious & complex and is absolutely worth seeking out. Vermentino might not be your go-to white wine yet, but give this stuff a try and we guarantee you'll be impressed.
