2014 Sun Worshipper - Alta Colina
Piercingly deep dark blackness. Black licorice, black cherry, black stone fruit. Thyme, basil, blackberry. A whiff of lavender, dry rub smoked meat, tangy limestone. Tarred asphalt. Another Paso Robles Rhone stunner! This 2014 Sun Worshiper by Alta Colina shows mistique, intrigue, and beautiful terroir.
The family owned and operated Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery is another perfect example of passionate people making great wine. Situated in the Adelaida district of Paso Robles, Alta Colina produces beautiful estate wines from their own hilltop vineyards. This Mourvedre based blend features a chunk of Syrah along with some Grenache and Petite Sirah, and really showcases the power, structure, and elegance that Rhone varietals can achieve when paired with Paso Robles soil. While achieving power is never much of a problem for Paso Robles wines, it is the producers who craft with balance and restraint that truly shine and Alta Colina is one of the good ones.
