2020 Estate “Ranch Red” - Nalle Winery

Irresistibly spicy and spunky bursts of wild cherry, juicy blackberry, tart blueberry, and goji berry lead a ripe yet admirably restrained presentation captivatingly cut with gorgeous organic tones of eucalyptus, bramble, and jalapeño. Wonderfully wild floral notes of cactus blossom, desert rose, and bougainvillea further advance playful ruggedness as intriguing spiced hints of crushed black pepper, chilli powder, and vanilla provide a pleasant mix of sweet and savory sensations. Impressions of asphalt and aged leather gently contribute just a touch of rusticity that seamlessly intertwines with intriguing earthy tones of dusty loam and sun-scorched earth. Delightfully lean, lively, and well balanced on the palate with a complex comingling of fruit and non-fruit nuances; exhibiting a thoroughly unique and terroir-expressive presentation that beautifully represents its place of origin. Medium bodied with moderate tannin backed by beautifully bright acidity. This 2020 Estate "Ranch Red" by Nalle Winery is an authentic and characterful red from Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley.

Located in the heart of Sonoma County just north of the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley is a historic and highly regarded winegrowing appellation widely known as the spiritual home of the Zinfandel grape. This bottling, crafted by Nalle Winery using 60% Zinfandel/40% Cabernet Sauvignon all grown at their estate vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, marvelously captures the rugged and untamed nature of this famed terroir. This possesses a juicy core of red, blue, and black berry fruits overlayed with spicy herbal notes, wild floral tones, peppery spices, and dusty earthiness. Although enjoyable today this classically-styled offering should age quite nicely, and it wouldn't be surprising to see this continue to drink well for a half a decade or more. Excellent.
