2019 Crater View Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc - Leah Jørgensen Cellars

Irresistibly intense and driving bursts of grapefruit flesh, green apple, quince, squeezed lime, and passion fruit abound with tremendous electricity and bite within a deliciously pure and linear attack. Notes of dewy grass, celery stalk, and cucumber cheerfully impart layers of pleasant green character that mingles with playfully pungent floral tones of elderflower and citrus blossom. Clean earthy impressions of smooth stones and delicate minerality make an appearance on the finish aided by a cool and refreshing twang of stainless steel. Cheerfully bright, fresh, and juicy on the palate with plenty of breadth to compliment its intensely zingy tartness; exhibiting an energetic and still youthful display that boasts nice complexity to back up its thirst-quenching crispness. Medium bodied and booming with pronounced acidity. This 2019 Crater View Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc by Leah Jørgensen Cellars is a well made and delicious white from Oregon's Rogue Valley.

Located in the heart of Southern Oregon where it is sheltered from cold ocean winds by a series of tall coastal mountains, the Rogue Valley is an intriguing and largely under-the-radar winegrowing appellation where a wide range of grape varieties can thrive. This bottling, crafted by Leah Jørgensen Cellars using Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the Crater View Vineyard in the Rogue Valley, is a wonderful example of the combination of depth and tension that whites from this region can possess. This effortlessly spills a range of seriously tart yet nicely layered citrus, orchard, and tropical fruits complimented by textbook grassy tones, intriguing florals, and terrific minerality. It is an extremely bright and nervy wine that is drinking well now, yet should also hold for at least 3-5 years. Excellent.
