2017 “Great Circle” Estate Tidalstar Vineyard Pinot Noir - Landlines Estates

Exceptionally complex yet restrained waves of black raspberry, tart dark cherry, juicy blueberry, barely-ripe strawberry, and rhubarb pie filling highlight a marvelously elegant and ethereal display that is pleasantly complicated by pretty organic notes of tea leaf, pine needle, and fresh forest air. Wafts of lavender and young rose gently contribute layers of fragrant floral charm that seamlessly intersects with a diverse dusting of spices led by fenugreek, coriander, and clove. Hints of iron and tilled soil round out the display with bits of pleasant earthiness that does not detract from the juicy and tremendously aromatic fruit. Impressively soft, delicate, and balanced on the palate while possessing sneaky depth and concentration; exhibiting a delightfully cohesive and Burgundian presentation that comes across as contemplative and serious yet still deliciously dainty and approachable. Medium bodied with moderate tannin backed by elevated acidity. This 2017 "Great Circle" Estate Tidalstar Vineyard Pinot Noir by Landlines Estates is a classic and terroir expressive red from Yamhill-Carlton.

Although Willamette Valley Pinot Noir can be shaped into a variety of styles depending on the vintage and producer preference, this legendary Oregon winegrowing zone has unquestionably become best known for the restrained old world-esque Pinot it helps create. This bottling, crafted by Landlines Estates using Pinot Noir grown at their biodynamic Tidalstar Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton, brilliantly showcases the classic cool climate style that put this region on the map. This effortlessly yet elegantly spills layers of black, blue, and red fruits that mingle with fresh forest tones, lifted florals, intriguing spices, and understated earthiness. While drinking phenomenally today this boasts sufficient structure to continue its ascent towards its peak for at least another 3-5 years in bottle, and will likely continue to drink well for a decade or more. Outstanding.
